I would have ended up with an awful mess if I hadn't created a style guide for my file-naming system. It's just a simple text file, but it makes a huge difference. And as I went back through my documents, I found that I'd often failed to extract every fact/clue. If I do it properly, it can take up to an hour to analyse a probate file (which, as you know, often includes a death certificate, will, affidavits, grant, etc) and enter everything into my genealogy database.Judy Websterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09730547717403140047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019443366936461483.post-63493311508912795802021-08-02T12:42:52.046+10:002021-08-02T12:42:52.046+10:00All these years later as I am about to embark on o...All these years later as I am about to embark on organizing/digitizing family history files I have found this post very useful. I NEVER HAD A MESSAGE SAYING THAT ABOUT MESSAGES. I HAVE USED MESSAGES AT TIMES TO CHECK WHO HAVE ASKED FOR INFORMATION AND THEN PASSED NEW STUFF ONTO THEM. NOW I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT.
